For anyone interested in NLP, I would like to share with you something that was brought to my attention by Dr. John Grinder in early 2007. A recent Neurological discovery may go a long way to explain the phenomenon of rapport and real NLP Modeling.
Neurologists have recently discovered a collection of motor neurons (associated with movement) called ‘mirror neurons’ located either side of the brain that fire when a person does an activity, and also fire when that person watches the same activity.
These newly discovered neurons have also been called ‘empathy’ neurons or ‘monkey see - monkey do’ neurons ;o)
Dr. Daniel Glaser at UCL has recently conducted fascinating studies with dancers from London’s Royal Ballet and experts in the Brazilian martial art capoeira. For more information click on the link http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/nova/sciencenow/3204/01.html
This is welcome news to anyone who is serious about NLP taking its rightful place as a recognised scientific method.
