Last night I was sitting at home clicking through Stumble, one of my favorite websites, when a page was served to me about gut feelings.
A team at the University of Leeds have done research into these feelings. The research shows that on a subconscious level our brain provides us with information, in the form of gut feelings and intuition, based on our previous experiences and what is happening around us. Most of the time you have a gut feeling in a situation where conscious analysis of the situation is difficult or impossible. So, would it be a good thing to pay some more attention to our gut feelings, could they be more than just a funny feeling?
Personally I am paying attention to these feelings a lot more in the last year or so, especially since I’ve done The Human Element workshop and my NLP Practitioner course. Once aware of your kinaesthetics it is a great indication that something is going that is well worth paying attention to. There are some great examples in Malcolm Gladwell’s book Blink and I’d invite you to focus today on what you are feeling inside, see what you notice!
Oh, you can find the University of Leeds’ article here.
